Keyless Entry and Exit:
The August Smart Lock Pro works with Alexa for voice control to monitor your door from anywhere. Lock and unlock your door — it gives you keyless control and access for you to keep track of who comes and goes from your phone. DoorSense also makes sure you’re secure, as it tells you whether your door is closed and locked.
Track Your Home 24/7:
As long as you have an iOS (9.0 or higher) or Android (5.0 or higher) smartphones, you can track the activity at your doorstep, so you can always know who is coming and going. You can also keep your existing lock and keys, as it easily attaches to your existing deadbolt so that you can use your keys anytime. At the same time, it can also lock and unlock automatically as you come and go to and from your house.
Easy to Use and Install:
The August Smart Lock Pro offers a simple, DIY installation, which will only take about 10 minutes with just a screwdriver. By using Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant, you can speak to control your August Smart Lock Pro + Connect. This smart lock is a Certified Z-Wave Plus home product — it works with Z-Wave, the leading wireless te technology for security and home control products, and it works using the free August app.
The Bad
The August Smart Lock Pro has a few flaws that stop it from being an excellent high-quality smart lock. Unfortunately, for one customer, this model has problems with unlocking automatically and manually. And when they tried to solve the problem by going to the August support page, there wasn’t any useful information to help them, so calling customer support was the next best thing to do.
However, customer support never picked up their call but instead had them stuck listening to an annoying background music clip that makes you want to hang up. Other customers feel that this product doesn’t have enough on offer to compensate for the price it demands. It also doesn’t do as it has advertised and leaves much to be desired.
The Bottom Line
The August Smart Lock Pro is not a perfect smart lock but does offer quite a few excellent features. With this product, you practically have the power to control everything that goes in and out of your home at the palm of your hand. It is easily one of the most compatible devices with other smart home systems and can be controlled with our smartphones.
But because of its issues, it isn’t able to take the top spot in our list of the best smart locks for 2019. We are hoping, though, that its problems can be fixed and addressed so that when we try the next iteration, it would perfect its craft and give us the smart lock we deserve.
