We prioritized getting health insurance for our new puppy, and after lots of comparing, we decided to go with Figo. The policy selection and signup process were easy, and we got a welcome packet right away. Then, literally on the very first day, he qualified for accident coverage (which was seven days into the policy), our puppy launched into a run, attempted to jump off a retaining wall, and fractured his hind leg. It was so sad, and we felt awful for not being able to stop him in time. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The claims and reimbursement process for his initial injury and follow-up care has been nothing but seamless. Claims take about 3 minutes to complete, so I usually just handle them right away in the app before leaving the vet’s parking lot. If you set up ACH transfer for your reimbursement, claims are paid within days. They do set the expectation that it may take longer during busier times, but still, this is nothing like the process I’ve experienced with other health insurance companies. I have had Figo for a little over a year – and have had to submit claims on several occasions for my two cats. Early on, Figo was undergoing some reorganization and claims were a bit slow. There was also a mixup about a preexisting condition for one of my cats. However, Figo was very understanding and gave me the benefit of the doubt. Figo saved my pets life and my family a ton of money!!! I saw a few negative responses about claim times so I wanted to chime in. Not sure if the others received the same letter I did, but they have been great at communicating their growing pains and it seems to me like they are on it.
