Lifeline Systems was founded in 1974 by a well-known psychologist who often wondered what would happen if an elderly person were alone and needed help. He began by offering solutions to hospitals and healthcare facilities. Soon, he provided products to individuals and healthcare professionals, too.
Philips acquired Lifeline Systems in 2006 and changed the name to Philips Lifeline. The great line of medical monitoring services remains the same. They offer affordable solutions to elderly individuals, allowing them to maintain an independent lifestyle and have immediate access to help.

Philips Lifeline offers a variety of monitoring services and equipment to older adults that want to stay in their homes. The following are some of our favorite ways that Philips Lifeline provides emergency monitoring to those living with medical conditions or ailments.
Location-Based Services: Philips Lifeline provides mobile devices equipped with location monitoring services. If you fall, help will be on the way quicker because they already know where you are. Home devices are registered to your address while mobile pendants have location services. This helps the Response Center locate you and dispatch help immediately.
Showerproof Help Button: When you put yourself in a slippery situation, Philips Lifeline is there to help. All of their wearables are water-resistant, so they go with you in the rain, in the shower, or at the pool. Wet or dry, you will always have help no matter where you are.
24/7 Response Center: Philips Lifeline has Response Associates who are specially trained to take your calls. They support multiple languages and can reach out to you at any time if they detect a fall. Just push your alert button, and you will be put in touch with a friendly representative who can help.
Two-Way Audio: The Philips Lifeline devices come with two-way audio, so when you are connected to the Response Center, you can hear them, and they can hear you. If they detect a fall and have to contact you directly, the two-way audio enables this communication, too.

HomeSafe Standard: This plan offers at-home coverage with either a landline or wireless connection. It includes an in-home communicator and a pendant or wristband. It starts at $29.95 per month with a $50 activation fee.
HomeSafe with AutoAlert: This plan offers at home coverage with either a landline or wireless connection. It includes an in-home communicator, a pendant, and AutoAlert fall detection. It starts at $44.95 per month with a $50 activation fee.
GoSafe: This plan offers coverage at home and away with a wireless connection. It includes a pendant, AutoAlert fall detection, and location monitoring services. It starts at $44.95 per month with a $99.95 device fee.
GoSafe 2: This plan offers coverage at home and away with a landline and a wireless connection. It includes an in-home communicator, a pendant, AutoAlert fall detection, and location monitoring services. It starts at $54.95 per month with a $149 device fee.

You can manage even the most complex medication regimens with the Phillips Lifeline automated medication dispensing service. The dispenser can handle up to 60 cups of medicine and dispense six doses per day. With the optional early dose feature, you can enjoy flexible dispensing when you need it. You can set up alerts for missed doses, refills, and loss of power.
Caregiver Support

The Bad
We noticed that Philips Lifeline charges an activation fee or an equipment fee with every plan. Many other medical alert services don’t. This disappoints us a bit due to the fact that all of their other services and plan options are fantastic. They provide so many add-ons and great features that it’s hard to pass up.
Philips Lifeline doesn’t have a mobile app. We found this to be frustrating because some other medical alert systems allow caregivers to log in for updates, receive alerts, and track locations. However, Philips Lifeline allows users to set designated emergency contacts to notify in the event they need to press the alert button.
The Bottom Line
Philips Lifeline offers reliable service, friendly representatives, and affordable prices. While they charge equipment fees and don’t have an app, we found that they more than makeup for that with extra features and added benefits.
With plenty of add-ons and premium features, Philips Lifeline gives you your independence and provides your loved ones with total peace of mind. If you want to continue living in your own home and have the freedom you need, it’s a great solution.
