The Bad
There is no doubt that the Linksys AC1900 Gigabit Range Extender is an impressive device. However, it isn’t without its flaws, as one customer found out that it works perfectly and just as it says it would — that is until it gets the Linksys firmware auto-update. From there, it no longer works as it should and turns it into a useless chunk of plastic.
Another problem it suffers from is how it continually disconnects, which is a huge letdown. Instead of giving your home a consistent source of Wi-Fi connection, it fails to deliver everything it promises to do for us. Long story short, just like its other problem, it still amounts to nothing but a useless chunk of plastic.
The Bottom Line
The Linksys AC1900 Gigabit Range Extender would’ve been an excellent addition to our homes if it had taken care of its system problems. Auto-updates and questionable connectivity that leads to a terrible performance are more than enough for many customers to think twice about purchasing this product. This is such a shame because when it does work, it creates wonders that provide up to 10,000 square feet of coverage in and out of our homes.
In the end, the Linksys AC1900 Gigabit Range Extender is a bit of a hit and miss, since half the time it will give us everything we ever wanted in a Wi-Fi extender, while the other half of the time, it makes us want to go back to the dark ages when none of the technology ever mattered. But with any luck, you might get your hands on that rare, correctly working unit that shows you just how amazing online gaming can be with a smooth and seamless internet connection.
